NOTE FROM BERNIE
With the recent promotions Bernie wanted to emphasize Icho-Ryu isn't a system or art of copying one's teacher and merely repeating the techniques taught. The purpose of Icho-Ryu is to teach strong basics in the art in order for the practitioners to be able to grow and develop their own skills and in their own direction. This can be clearly seen with the three individuals just promoted: Neil, Andrew, and Wayne. Each have dedicated years of training in Icho-Ryu Aikijujutsu, as well as other arts, and developed their own arts and style. Using the basics as a step toward their own creativity and expression and the art.

BERNIE TO CHILE FOR THREE MONTHS
Bernie will be traveling and teaching in Chile April - July 2007 by the invitation of two local Karate Organizations. This is a return visit for sensei where he will be teaching his favorite finger locks, arresting techniques and power training Bokken.

BERNIE'S MEMOIRS
While in Chile, Bernie will be working to complete his memoirs: French Bastard: Memoirs Of A White Chinaman. Beginning as an orphan in France to all years of undercover in the vice squad. His meeting with Marharishi MaheshYogi, interpreting for the president of South Vietnam while a Navy officer, meeting the founder of Aikido and many more.

ICHO-RYU ZEN AIKIJUJUTSU
While in Chile, Lau Sensei will be establishing the Icho-Ryu Zen Aikijujutsu Benevolent Association. This will be an informal brotherhood of practitioners with equal focus on self-development and meditation in addition to the physical self-defense arts. The goal is to encourage friendship, mutual respect, and support for the varied arts.
